How to Reorder PDF Pages

Rearranging pages in your PDF is intuitive and visual with our drag-and-drop tool. Move pages to their correct positions and download the reorganized document in seconds.

1. Upload your PDF: Click the upload area or drag and drop your PDF file. All pages are displayed as visual thumbnails in their current order.
2. Drag pages to reorder: Click and drag any page thumbnail to a new position. The other pages shift automatically to accommodate the move.
3. Use arrow controls: For precise adjustments, use the left and right arrow buttons on each page to move it one position at a time.
4. Track your changes: Pages that have been moved display a "was X" label showing their original position, with a highlighted border so you can easily see what has changed.
5. Reset if needed: Click the Reset button at any time to restore the original page order and start over.
6. Download: Click Download Reordered PDF to save the document with pages in the new sequence. The original file is never modified.

• Use drag for large moves: When a page needs to move many positions, dragging is faster than clicking arrow buttons repeatedly.
• Check position labels: The "was X" labels on moved pages help you verify that each page ended up in the correct new position.
• Reset to start fresh: If the rearrangement becomes confusing, use the Reset button to go back to the original order and begin again.

Technical Details

This tool uses the pdf-lib JavaScript library to create a new PDF with pages copied from the original document in the user-specified order. PDF.js renders the visual page thumbnails and powers the drag-and-drop preview interface. When you download, the tool iterates through the reordered page list, copies each page from the source document, and assembles them into a fresh PDF in the new sequence. All page content including text, images, annotations, links, and form fields is preserved exactly. The entire process runs client-side in your browser using JavaScript with no server communication. Your file is read into memory, the reordering is applied, and the result is downloaded directly. All data is released from memory when you close the tab.
